The New Hampshire Commission for Human Rights is a state agency established by RSA 354-A for the purpose of eliminating discrimination in employment, public accommodations and the sale or rental of housing or commercial property, because of age, sex, sexual orientation, race, creed, color, marital status, familial status, physical or mental disability or national origin. The commission has the power to receive, investigate and pass upon complaints of illegal discrimination and to engage in research and education designed to promote good will and prevent discrimination. RSA 354-A:5, V, VII and RSA 354-A: 21, II(f) give the commission the power to adopt rules suitable to carry out the purposes of RSA 354-A. Pursuant to RSA 354-A:3, I, The New Hampshire Commission for Human Rights shall consist of 7 commissioners with the powers and authority described in RSA 354-A:5. The Commissioners are appointed by the Governor, with the consent of the Executive Council, for terms of five years.
